There are so many reasons why people wear waist beads, to some people it serves as a self-care jewelry because you can use it to monitor your weight. Other people wear it for beautification purposes and also as a sign of feminity and sensuality. It is also seen as a right of passage and growth in some cultures and tribes. There are so many reasons why people make use of waist beads and that is why so many meanings are attached to a broken waist bead.

Sometimes your waist bead can cut when you've added weight, this is totally normal. Waist beads hardly break if you're using it for weight awareness, it goes above the waist when you start to add weight and when you lose weight, it goes below the waist. What cuts at this point is that the strings used to make the beads cut. When this happens, you can pick up the heads and tie them back.

If you've been wearing a waist bead right from childhood, as you grow, it is very clear that your bead would cut because you’ve outgrown it. Traditionally it shows that you're ready for adulthood or you’ve grown. The beads worn during childhood differs completely from that which is worn after puberty. This is mostly with women of African origin.

Your waist bead is totally breakable either because you're eating too or maybe while moving too fast, you don't get to notice your beads attached to something and it rips it off your waist. This is totally normal. You just need to take note of what you were doing before it happened. If your waist bead was gotten as part of your body adornment then you have nothing to worry about. A replacement would do the magic. You should have a care pattern for your waist bead and even after the first ones break, it should not discourage you from getting another one. Other times it doesn't have to be your body weight, it just might be that your beads are worn out and a change is required. The strings might start to get weak after many years and if you wear your beads all the time then it's normal for it to wear loose and break. If you like the beads so much then you can tie them back with new strings. Often times people go for metal stringed beads because it lasts longer and doesn't wear out.

People tend to attach fetish meanings especially when it comes to waist beads. To avoid scaring your own self, be sure to pick out the right measurement before buying a waist bead. Monitor what you eat because it determines if your waist bead would break or not. Or maybe the strings used in making your beads are not strong enough, it means your beads would easily cut. Waist beads are beauty and fashion statements and should be taken care of the same way we do with our jewelry.
